About me

about me

I am lucky enough to live here with my wonderful husband and dog, where I have spent the last 20+ years working in the corporate world of Technology and Cybersecurity, with little time left to nurture my creative longing. After being made redundant earlier in 2024, I took the opportunity to take time to build on my existing skills, develop new, and open Limekilns Studio.

I have always been creative, and love seeing my ideas come to life through my designs. I take my inspiration from my beautiful surroundings, and how we as humans interact with our environment.

I am passionate about protecting our natural world, and not adding to the piles of rubbish already polluting our planet. I am committed to living this passion by creating beauty from discarded materials, and considering the environment at every step in my process.

About my jewellery

I don’t use any pre-bought pendants, charms or sea glass - everything I sell has been lovingly collected, created & curated by me.

Fine silver is the purest available and contains 99.9% pure silver, it tarnishes less easily than silver but can be too soft for all uses. I love the brilliant shine and use recycled fine silver to make all my charms and pendants. Each piece is painstakingly hand moulded, fired, drilled, sanded and polished. I take some pieces to a high shine, and leave some with a matt finish depending on the piece and desired look.

To ensure that all my findings and chains are as robust as they are beautiful, I use sterling silver. While sterling tarnishes more easily than fine, it contains 92.5% pure silver alloyed with copper and/or zinc, which makes it more durable and a good choice for the hard wearing parts of your jewellery. All of my connecting rings, bails, ear hooks & chains are recycled sterling silver, and my wire is a mix of sterling or fine depending on what I use it for. Please see my Jewellery Care guide for hints and tips to stop your special piece tarnishing.

I ethically source all materials, and ensure they are fully traceable and equal in quality to un-recycled precious metals.

I use natural materials as a foundation for all of my silver charms and pendants, collected locally. From leaves gathered in my garden, local parks and country estates to foraged seashells that I use to make unique moulds for my pendants and charms. Each mould is created on location and the natural item returned to its original home - most people aren’t aware but it is illegal in the UK to remove anything natural from the seashore such as shells & stones!

Some of my pieces also contain sea glass, with a stunning patina that has been formed and forged by the power of the sea. Most of my sea glass has been collected from my local beaches, and from time to time I curate special collections, using sea glass and natural items I have found while on holiday or visiting friends and family. Only about 5% of the sea glass I find is suitable and of good enough quality to include in my jewellery, and each piece is individually sanitised, cleaned and prepared.

All of my packaging & shipping materials have been carefully selected, using lightweight recycled and recyclable packaging, and I walk all of my deliveries to my local post office for shipping.

This is only the start…
